Our Mission

The mission of the Intervention Academy is to provide a quality education while empowering students with the knowledge and skills that will guide them through a productive life.

School Description

The St. Clair County Intervention Academy is a public-school academy identified as a Strict Discipline Academy by the Michigan Department of Education for court adjudicated youth in grades 6-12, which operates on a year-round schedule. The Intervention Academy’s Charter is authorized by the Port Huron Area School District and our Educational Service Provider is The Romine Group

Students attending the Intervention Academy participate in 1 of 3 programs on one campus. Two of the programs are Day Treatment / Night Watch programs identified as Traditional and Intense Treatment Programs. Students in the Day Treatment / Night Watch programs attend school and receive clinical services between the hours of 8am and 6pm Monday – Friday with occasional clinical services provided on weekends. When students are not on-site, they are under surveillance by staff who do random checks at students’ residences. The third program our students participate in is our jail-side program. We offer inmates in the St. Clair County jail the opportunity to earn/recover credits and earn their GED or high school diploma.

Instruction is provided to our students via Edgenuity with a highly-qualified teacher in the classroom. Face-to-face instruction is also provided to students for intervention support. Our students primarily participate in core curriculum courses (math, ELA, science, and social studies) where they earn/recover credits towards their high school diploma, which they can earn while they are with us or when they return to their home school. The opportunity to earn a GED is provided to students who are significantly behind or court-ordered to do so.

The average enrollment at the Intervention Academy is ~118 students per school year with an average length of enrollment of about 4 months. Currently, we employ 4 teachers. Additionally, our school is identified as a school-wide Title IA.
